Daily - Alissariel Kirmoon by Ruloc Daily - Alissariel Kirmoon by Ruloc
Okay this is a piece tat I had to pause for ages.

And I do have to apologize. I forgot about her fennek pet and run out of time to add it. :/

I did spent quite some time on the face and there it went. I hope that apart from the missing Fennek she's acceptable.

Ruloc, could you make this available as a print? I'd like to get Alis framed and on-display in my gaming room. :)

I'll upload a version without the border and text soon.
Daeviantart wouldn't allow the normal version.

Oh ok, thanks. I'd wondered what had happened. :)

Hmmm...she seems well endowed for an elf. ;)

Like the outfit!

You're right, she IS too well-endowed for an elf which (coupled with her short stature) is something of a challenge for her at court.

You see, Alis is actually a HALF-elf! :) Her father was an elven duke, her mother a human countess. The fact that her ears are as long as a full-blooded elf's is thanks to her father's royal blood, while her curves are attributable to her mother.

That explains my confusion. Half-elves always have better curves than elves. ;)

Maybe I should have told the artist that drew my priestess of Sarenrae ([link]) to draw her with curves like Alissariel's. :(

Hehe, yeah half-elves sometimes benefit from the best of both lineages. Of course they also have to put up with the grief of two sets of social mores so I guess it evens out. ;)

As far as getting what you hoped for, I think a big part of that is knowing what you want and being able to convey it to the artist. Even before I saw Ruloc's generous offer, I'd already spent a looong time scouring the Internet for models I could use as photo-references. When I finally did see Ruloc's offer, it took me at least 4 hours to get all the details written up. In fact, I was actually worried it was going to be too much information, so I made an addendum to specifically call attentions to key features like her having blonde eyebrows, no dimple in the chin, and a widow's peak to her hairline.

Naturally, it also helps to find an artist whose style is a good fit for what you have in mind and who will work with those guidelines.

BTW, in case you are curious by what I mean about a LOT of details... ;)

I was joking. Maybe I was projecting my priestess's thoughts in my last statement about curves. I think her curves are in proportion to her body frame and that commission turned out great since the artist worked with me on it. I never envisioned her to be as curvy as your half-elf. However, my Star Wars Kira character, on the other hand, is a bit more on the curvy side. I'm not sure how that happened when I first had her drawn up, but "if it ain't broken, why fix it", right? ;)

I agree with you about references. I try to provide as many references to what I want as possible and as much detail as can think of that is relevant. However, I never went as in much detail as your link.

Haha, it's funny you mention that about your priestess' thoughts. One of the NPCs in this game, Sasha, was not nearly as well-endowed and she was always kind of envious of Alis and her best friend Lureene, a redeemed succubus. Speaking of Lureene, she's also on Ruloc's list — her player and I were just talking about needing to provide some good photo-references for her.

(Don't worry, I doubt Eric will go into as much detail as I did!) ^_^;

Even in RPG games, women are still jealous and envious of other women that are more "endowed" then them. Lol! Anyway, you can see from my gallery I have some different characters posted from a few of my Pathfinder and Star Wars Saga campaigns. More pictures are on the way as next year unfolds. I need more of my priestess for she was fun to play. Fiery redheads who choose the fire and glory domains usually are. ;)

I need to get on Ruloc's list for he keeps turning me down when I suggest I should commission him when I respond to his fantasy characters pictures here on dA.

Also, if you use the Pathfinder rules for your fantasy games, I have created a generic fillable character sheet for it that I use for my games, which can be found here ([link]). I plan to expand on them next year, so if you find then useful and have any suggestions to make them better while still keeping their generic nature, send your feedback to my email address listed on it.
